Volunteering as a Heritage Gardener
The benefits of becoming a Heritage Gardener:
- Become a member of one of the 40+ Gardening Teams that look after the beds along our beautiful waterfront
- Teams meet at various times during the week so individuals are sure to find a team that fits into their particular schedule (mornings, evenings, week days or week nights)
- Teams plant, weed, and care for gardens according to specifications of the "Design" for each particular bed.
- Take part in various Educational seminars, meetings, workshops and/or movie nights to learn more about gardening and the environment
- Help to plan the future beds in the redeveloped parklands area (planned botanical gardens, theme gardens, children's gardens, etc.)
- Learn and share stories, information and planting tips with other like-minded people
- Have the opportunity to get to know several Master Gardeners who are always willing to give advice
- Spend time outdoors
- Have access to reference material from the North Bay Heritage Gardeners' library
